Peaceful Rally From Parade Ground to CM Residence
Under the banner of “Justice for Ankita,” representatives of multiple social organizations, civil rights groups, and opposition parties gathered at Parade Ground, from where they launched a massive rally towards the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun. Protesters carried placards and raised slogans demanding a CBI investigation into the case, alleging serious lapses and unanswered questions in the existing probe.
The demonstrators asserted that their agitation was entirely peaceful. Organizers repeatedly appealed to participants to maintain discipline and ensure that the protest remained non-violent, emphasizing that their fight is for justice, transparency, and accountability.

Leaders of social and public organizations stated that recent developments and fresh allegations linked to the Ankita Bhandari murder case have raised serious concerns about the adequacy and credibility of the ongoing investigation. According to them, these new claims make it imperative to re-investigate the case through an independent central agency like the Central Bureau of Investigation.

“The truth has still not fully come out. After new allegations, a fair and transparent reinvestigation has become necessary,” said representatives of the protesting groups. They further alleged that only a CBI probe can restore public confidence and ensure that all those responsible, regardless of their influence or position, are brought to justice.
Heavy Police Deployment Across the City
In view of the massive turnout and the proposed march towards the Chief Minister’s residence, the local administration deployed a strong police force across key locations in the city. Barricades were set up at sensitive points, and traffic was regulated to avoid disruption. Senior police officials remained on the ground to monitor the situation and ensure law and order.
Despite the heavy security presence, the rally concluded peacefully, with protesters reiterating that their movement will continue until the demand for a CBI investigation is accepted.
