The PM Awas yojna 2.0 aims to transform slum areas with special provisions for their rehabilitation and relocation. The government will provide assistance in two categories:
Under this category, financial aid will be given to individuals to build homes on their own land. The central government will provide ₹2.25 lakh, while the state government will contribute ₹50,000. Additionally, the paperwork related to land ownership will be processed free of cost.
This category involves rehabilitating slum areas with the help of private developers. If the current location of a slum is unsuitable, it can be redeveloped in another area. Separate financial support will be provided by the government for such projects.
The scheme also includes funding for upgrading slums and strengthening infrastructure.
The state of Uttarakhand, which has 582 slums awaiting rehabilitation, has already signed an agreement with the central government to implement this scheme. The initiative is expected to accelerate ongoing efforts by the state government to rehabilitate and relocate slum areas.
The PM Awas Yojana 2.0 has officially been launched and is expected to bring significant improvements to slum areas across the state.
