Red alert in Himachal : 22 people have died so far, warning to stay in homes for two days

Red alert in Himachal : Heavy rains and landslides have caused devastation in Himachal Pradesh. Roads have been closed in many districts, houses have been damaged and people are trapped. The most affected area is Shimla. A landslide occurred at a Shiva temple in Summer Hill area, in which nine people died. Seven people died in Solan district after a late night cloudburst. The death toll has gone up to 22 in the last two days.

Red alert in Himachal Roads, bridges and vehicles swept away like straws

The condition of Chandigarh Manali Highway in Mandi district is pathetic. Many people are missing due to cloudburst in Mandi district. Debris has entered the houses. At the same time, roads, bridges and vehicles have been washed away like straws in the strong current of water. In the last 12 hours, maximum rainfall has been recorded in Kangra at 273 mm. Whereas, 254 mm of rain has been received in Sujanpur Tehra of Hamirpur, 250 mm in Dharamshala and 255 in Shahpur.

7 people died in Mandi and 2 in Fagli

After Shimla and Solan, now the havoc of nature has been witnessed in Mandi district as well. 7 people have died due to house collapse in Kataula near IIT Kamand. In Shimla’s Fagli, three kutcha houses collapsed due to a massive landslide, many people were buried in it. Till now 2 dead bodies recovered, 4 people missing, 6 people rescued.

The state government has taken steps to provide relief to the people affected by the heavy rains. NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue work. People are being given food, water and shelter.

Heavy rains are also harming the economy of Himachal Pradesh. The tourism and agriculture sectors have suffered the most. The government has constituted a committee to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains.

People in Himachal Pradesh are facing a lot of trouble due to heavy rains. The government needs to complete the relief and rescue work as soon as possible.
