Rey Misterio Sr Passes Away: Famous Mexican wrestler Rey Mysterio Sr has died at the age of 66. His family said on Saturday that Rey Mysterio Sr, the uncle of WWE icon and Hall of Famer Rey Misterio Jr, breathed his last on Friday. Rey Mysterio Sr was the grandfather of another WWE icon Dominic Mysterio. Mysterio’s real name was Miguel Angel Lopez Dias. He was a Lucha Libre wrestler who participated in many Mexican wrestling promotions, including the World Wrestling Federation. The death of Mysterio, ( Rey Misterio Sr Passes Away ) who was called the legend of Lucha Libre wrestling, has caused a wave of mourning in the entire wrestling industry.

What is Lucha Libre wrestling?

Lucha Libre wrestling is a form of professional wrestling in Mexico, in which the participating wrestlers perform aerial moves wearing colorful masks. Rey Mysterio Senior made his wrestling debut in January 1976. After this, his entire career was spent participating in Pro Wrestling Revolution, Tijuana Wrestling and wrestling related to World Wrestling Association. Mysterio Senior showed such flair in Lucha Libre wrestling that he was considered its legend. He won the WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship. Along with this, he also won the WWA Tag Team Championship along with his nephew Rey Mysterio Junior.

Mysterio’s son was caught in a drug case

rey mysterio’s son Miguel Aaron Lopez Hernandez was also a wrestler, whose ring name was El Hijo de Rey Mysterio (The Son of the Mystery King). In 2012, Aaron was caught in the drug Ice case. One kilogram of drugs named ‘ICE’ was found with him. He and his younger brother were arrested in California. In an interview in 2023, he told that he had to spend 4 years behind prison bars.
