Dussehra Festival in Dehradun : The 76th Dussehra festival will be celebrated by the Bannu community on 24th October in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. A 131-foot Ravana Dahan will be performed in this festival, which will be the largest Ravana Dahan in the country.
Preparations for Ravana Dahan
A 131 feet high effigy of Ravana has been made for Ravana Dahan. Wood, fibre, cloth and other materials have been used to make the effigy of Ravana. 12 kg gunpowder has been filled inside the effigy of Ravana. 12 bullets have been placed for Ravana Dahan, on which the Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister and MLA will press one button each.

A procession will be taken out on the day of Dussehra festival. Bands from outside and drums of Nashik will be played in the procession. Ram-Lakshman duo will also participate in the procession. The procession will conclude at the parade ground.

Keeping in view the possibility of crowd, strict security arrangements have been made. Police force will be deployed around the parade ground. Besides, surveillance will also be done through drones.
Ravana Dahan Program
Lanka Dahan will take place at 5:15 pm, followed by burning of the effigies of Meghnath and Kumbhkaran. Ravana Dahan will take place at 6:05 pm. Bharat Milaap will take place after Ravana Dahan.
