Leopard Attack: Four-year-old boy playing in the field in front of his mother killed by leopard, died on the spot
In Nanakmatta, a four-year-old boy playing in the field in front of his mother was killed by a leopard.
The leopard escaped after the mother and other women who were cutting grass nearby raised an alarm. The boy died on the spot due to the bite of the leopard’s teeth on his neck.
On receiving the information, forest department and police personnel reached the spot. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
On Sunday evening around 5 pm, Sukhwinder Kaur, wife of Mangal Singh, resident of Gram Tukdi, along with other women of the village, went to the field to collect grass for the animals. Sukhwinder left her son Jaswant Singh to play near the edge of the field and started cutting grass.
Meanwhile, a leopard hiding in the sugarcane field nearby attacked the child. As soon as the leopard was seen, the mother and other women raised an alarm, which scared the leopard away. The leopard left the child and ran into the sugarcane field. The child died on the spot due to the bite of the leopard’s teeth on his neck.
On receiving the information, Sukhali Math Forest Range Officer Khushal Ram Tamta along with forest personnel reached the spot. SI Shankar Singh Bisht, Ashok Kandpal, and Constable Navneet Kumar also inspected the spot. The father Mangal Singh, mother Sukhwinder Kaur, and two sisters are in a bad state crying over the death of the child.
