Uttarakhand Weather : the Meteorological Department of Uttarakhand has sounded the alarm by issuing a red alert for the upcoming three days. The forecast predicts heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, raising concerns across the state. Bikram Singh, the director of the Meteorological Center, highlights the intensification of pre-monsoon showers in Uttarakhand.

This red alert encompasses the period from Saturday to Monday, indicating the urgency and severity of the anticipated weather conditions. Notable areas that might experience substantial rainfall include Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Tehri, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Additionally, localized gusty winds with speeds ranging between 40 to 50 kmph are expected in certain locations. Considering the potential for disaster, authorities advise the concerned districts to maintain vigilance.

The Meteorological Center reveals that the southwest monsoon has already reached Odisha, Bengal, and Jharkhand. In response, the State Emergency Operation Center has issued guidelines to the districts, urging all line department officers and employees to remain on high alert round the clock. Notably, during this period, it is imperative that no employee or officer switches off their mobile phone, ensuring constant communication and readiness.

According to Vikram Singh Yadav, Joint Secretary and Duty Officer of the State Emergency Operation Center, the next four days may witness heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and intense showers in isolated regions of Uttarakhand. Additionally, strong winds are also expected to prevail. Consequently, all line department officers and employees have been directed to take special precautions during this period. The designated officers and departmental nodal officers of the IRS system have been placed on high alert to promptly address any motorway obstructions. Furthermore, revenue sub-inspectors, village development officers, and village panchayat officers are instructed to remain in their respective areas, ensuring preparedness at the grassroots level. Special precautions have also been advised for schools.
