Illegal mining in Dehradun : Illegal mining is a big problem in Uttarakhand. It is happening on the banks of rivers and hollowing out the foundations of bridges. Because of which many bridges have collapsed in the last two-three years. Illegal mining in the rivers, under the bridges was the main reason for the collapse of all these bridges. The Dhoran bridge of the capital Dehradun is also in a dilapidated condition. Mining has hollowed out its foundation. Due to which this bridge can also collapse.

After investigation of illegal mining near Dhoran bridge in Dehradun, Uttarakhand government has decided to block traffic on 75 risky bridges.

PWD has formed a team to investigate the illegal mining happening near Dhoran bridge. The team has to inspect the area around the bridge and find out whether illegal mining has caused any damage to the bridge. If the bridge is damaged, the PWD will get it repaired.

Uttarakhand government has decided to stop traffic on 75 dangerous bridges as these bridges have been damaged and become dangerous. These bridges will be opened for traffic only after repair.

Rivers are also being harmed by illegal mining. The flow of rivers is decreasing and the water level is falling. This is also affecting fisheries and irrigation. Illegal mining is also harming the environment. The water of the rivers is getting polluted and soil erosion is taking place.
