Ravan Dahan in Dehradun : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami burnt the effigy of Ravana by pressing the remote at the Parade Ground in Dehradun on 24 October 2023. On this occasion, Dehradun Police maintained zero zone around the parade ground. After this, CM Dhami also participated in the Ravana Dahan program at his Dehradun residence.
Apart from CM Dhami, a large number of people including Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, MLAs were present in the Ravana Dahan program organized at the Parade Ground.

After Ravana Dahan, CM Dhami said that Ravana Dahan is a symbol of the victory of good over evil. He said that we should always fight evil and promote goodness.
This time Ravana Dahan was organized in Dehradun by the Bannu community. The effigy of Ravana was 131 feet high, which was the largest Ravana Dahan in the country. 12 kg gunpowder was used to burn Ravana.
After Ravana Dahan, Bharat Milap program took place. In this event Ram and Lakshman met their brother Bharat. Bharat Milaap symbolizes that the feeling of love and brotherhood should always remain in the family.
Vijayadashami festival is a grand and colorful celebration at the Parade Ground. This day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. On this day, effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran are burnt.
Preparations for Vijayadashami festival start several days in advance at the parade ground. It takes hard work of many people to make the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran. These effigies are made of wood, fiber and cloth. Gunpowder is filled inside the effigies.
On the day of Vijayadashami festival, people start gathering in the parade ground from early morning. A procession is taken out. Tableaux of Ram-Lakshman, Sita and Hanuman are included in the Shobha Yatra. The procession concludes at the parade ground.
In the evening, effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran are burnt. Bharat Milaap takes place after Ravana Dahan. At Bharat Milap, Ram and Lakshman meet their brother Bharat.
