To bring uniformity in the admission process of students pursuing higher education after 12th, the government has launched the Samarth portal, but it has not given clear information about the courses and fees of the colleges as well as the admission process. Students from all over the state are troubled by this. They do not know how much fee they will have to pay in the college they are choosing.
Mahapanchayat on Love Jihad: SC refuses to hear petition seeking ban, CM Dhami said this
Recently, Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat had launched Samarth Portal. Through this, admission is to be done in Sridev Suman University, Almora University, Kumaon University Campus and all their affiliated government, non-government, private colleges. The department is also claiming applications of about 20,000 students from all over the state through this portal, but there are many difficulties at the ground level.
Complete information not on the portal
The students are upset. Which college of a university is on the portal. There is information about the courses offered in that college, but what is the fee for these courses. How many seats are there? No information is available on this. In a private college, the fee for BA is Rs 2600 and in some places it is Rs 15,000.
In such a situation, if the student is allotted a college with higher fees, then no one knows what he will do. The name and course of the college comes at the time of application, but despite filling it none of these information is available. The students demand that a separate brochure should be made available on the portal giving information about the courses, fees etc. of all the universities and colleges.
Compartment givers will remain deprived
The Higher Education Department has fixed June 24 as the last date for applications for admissions. Right now compartment examinations of Uttarakhand Board and other boards are being held. Their result will also likely come by July. In such a situation, the students are worried that they will be deprived of this admission process.
College is also troubled, neither login nor any information
Private college operators associated with Samarth portal are also worried. President of Association of Self Finance Institute, Dr. Sunil Agarwal says that many courses of many colleges are not available in this portal. He said that neither the colleges were given any information beforehand. Nor was he given any such login, password etc. linked to the portal. They don’t even know how many claimant students are there for them.
