Vikas Nagar , Tuni : A painful accident took place in Vikas Nagar of Dehradun on Thursdayevening. A massive fire broke out in a multi-storey house near Tuni bridge. During this, four children were burnt alive in the accident. While many people got burnt.
Surat Ram Joshi’s house near the Tons river bridge. He is a retired employee of the Education Department. Six families including the landlord lived in the house. According to eyewitnesses, the LPG cylinders present in the house kept exploding due to the fire.
Four explosions were heard one after the other during the fire incident. But by the time the fire was brought under control, Sonam (9), Riddhi (10), Mishti (5) and Sejal (two and a half years) trapped in the house had died.
At the same time, people allege that the biggest shortcoming in the incident of fire was seen in the functioning of the fire brigade. A fire fighting vehicle was present about 150 meters away from the spot, which reached the spot within twenty minutes of receiving the information.
As soon as the action of pouring water on the house from the vehicle was started, the water in the vehicle ran out. Eyewitnesses told that till then only one room of the house was on fire. He claims that if there was adequate provision of water in the vehicle, the fire would have been extinguished immediately.
On the other hand, there was a ration godown, a furniture shop and a tailoring shop in the lower part of the house. In the incident of fire, the godown and both the shops and all the goods kept in them were also burnt to ashes.
CFO Rajendra Khati has told that water tankers have reached the spot from Jubal in Himachal and Mori in Uttarkashi. A vehicle has also been sent from Vikasnagar. SDRF team also reached the spot.
