Abhinav Kumar, new DGP of Uttarakhand Police
November 30 was a historic day for Uttarakhand Police. On this day, the Uttarakhand government appointed 1996 batch IPS officer Abhinav Kumar as the new acting DGP of Uttarakhand Police. Abhinav Kumar’s appointment came after UPSC increased the service tenure criteria for DGP to 25 years. Earlier, there was a service period of 30 years for DGP.
Abhinav Kumar started his career as a sub-inspector in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Subsequently, he served on various posts in different districts. He also served as Superintendent of Police in Haridwar, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
Abhinav Kumar is a skilled and experienced police officer. He has been appointed to many important posts in Uttarakhand Police. He has played an important role in crime control, anti-terrorism operations, and maintaining law and order in Uttarakhand Police.
