Holi date: This time there is confusion among the public regarding the date of Holika Dahan and Holi. After all, when is Holika Dahan on March 6 or March 7? Astrologers reasoned behind this that Rang is played on the day of ‘Pareva’, (the first day of Phagun month) and Holika Dahan is done on Purnima (full moon day before Pareva). This year, ‘Bhadra Kaal’ is starting from the full moon evening, in such a situation there is a dispute regarding the time of Holika Dahan.
The auspicious time of Holika depends on three things
Astrologer Ajay Srivastava, a resident of Rajajipur, Lucknow, told that it is known to every person that first Holika Dahan takes place and then Holi is played. But most people do not know how the date and time are determined. There is some confusion regarding Holika Dahan and Holi this year. The auspicious time of Holika depends on these three important things. The date of full moon, the time after sunset (calledPradoshKaal) and the fact whether it is Bhadra Kaal or not.
Holi will be played on the day of Pareva on March 8.
Ajay Srivastava further explained that, if full moon is accompanied by Bhadra, then Holika Dahan can be done in Puchha Kaal i.e. towards the end of Bhadra. In Lucknow, Holika Dahan can be done between 12.40 a.m. to 2 a.m. on the night of March 6 and 7. Because the full moon date will be till 6.10 pm on March 7 and also because Holika Dahan is done after sunset. Rang will be played on the day of Pareva on 8th March.
Holika Dahan’s date and time fixed
While Pandit Ram Kewal Tiwari said, this year Holika Dahan will take place on the intervening night of March 6 and 7. The time can be between 12.40 am to 5.56 am. That is, Holi will be played only after 24 hours of Holika Dahan.
