Rekha Arya-Girdhari Lal Sahu Controversy: CM Dhami Calls for Fair Probe, Says Law Will Decide Who Is Guilty

Rekha Arya-Girdhari Lal Sahu Controversy : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called for an impartial investigation into the allegations exchanged between Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya and her husband, Girdhari Lal Sahu. Describing the matter as highly sensitive, Dhami said that no individual should be declared guilty merely because allegations have been made against them.

“The person whom the law finds guilty will be considered guilty,” the Chief Minister said, emphasising that the truth must emerge through a fair investigation and due legal process.

The Rekha Arya-Girdhari Lal Sahu controversy came up during a press conference held by Dhami at the BJP state headquarters in Dehradun on October 22. The briefing was organised to discuss upcoming programmes of the state government and the BJP organisation. Journalists also questioned the Chief Minister about the dispute between the minister and her husband.

CM Dhami Questions Timing of Allegations

Responding to questions, Dhami said the circumstances in which the allegations were made must also be examined. He questioned why the accusations had surfaced at this particular time, referring to the couple’s long relationship.

The Chief Minister stressed that allegations alone cannot establish someone’s guilt. Investigators must examine the available evidence, understand the background of the dispute and determine whether the claims can be substantiated.

He also cautioned against drawing conclusions from audio recordings without proper verification.

According to Dhami, mentioning someone’s name during a conversation does not automatically establish that the person was involved in any alleged wrongdoing. Audio recordings and statements must be examined in context before any conclusions are reached.

CM Says Audio Recordings Must Be Verified

The press conference also addressed questions about viral audio recordings involving Urmila and Suresh Rathore, as well as recordings allegedly shared by Rekha Arya on social media.

Arya had reportedly posted audio clips attributed to her husband, Girdhari Lal Sahu. A police case was registered against Sahu following the developments, according to the information provided in the report.

Dhami said that all such recordings should be investigated properly because of the serious implications involved. He noted that mishandling sensitive cases could raise questions about the credibility of investigative agencies and the justice system.

The Chief Minister maintained that investigators must establish the facts without allowing political considerations or public speculation to determine the outcome.

He said the objective should be to ensure that an innocent person is not wrongfully implicated and that anyone found guilty does not escape legal accountability.

What Are the Allegations Against Rekha Arya and Her Husband?

The dispute intensified after Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya reportedly filed a police complaint against her husband at Dehradun’s Cantonment police station.

According to the information provided, Arya accused Sahu of domestic violence, physical assault and other serious misconduct. The complaint led to the registration of a case against him.

Following the case, Sahu released a video in which he levelled allegations of corruption against his wife, claiming that the alleged wrongdoing involved approximately ₹200 crore.

These corruption allegations remain claims made by Sahu and should not be treated as established facts without supporting evidence and the outcome of an appropriate investigation.

The competing allegations have brought the dispute into the public spotlight, raising questions about the evidence presented by both sides and the legal process that will follow.

Fair Investigation Needed to Establish the Truth

Dhami reiterated that the matter should be assessed on the basis of evidence rather than political arguments or social media discussions.

The Chief Minister’s position was that investigators must examine every relevant aspect of the case and ensure that the process is transparent and impartial.

The Rekha Arya-Girdhari Lal Sahu controversy involves serious allegations, but the final determination of responsibility rests with the competent authorities and the courts, where applicable.

For now, the emphasis remains on establishing the facts, protecting the rights of those involved and ensuring that any further action is taken in accordance with the law.
