Uttarakhand is witnessing a sudden change in weather conditions as heavy rain, hailstorms, thunderstorms and chilly winds continue to impact several districts across the state. After days of scorching heat in the plains, the sudden weather shift has brought much-needed relief to residents, while the Meteorological Department has warned of more intense weather activity in the coming hours.
According to the weather department in Dehradun, most districts of the state are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunder and lightning today. The department has also predicted snowfall in areas located above 3,800 meters, increasing concerns in higher Himalayan regions.

The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for districts including Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. These districts are expected to witness heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour.
Officials have warned that isolated areas in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli may experience very heavy rainfall, which could affect normal life and traffic movement in hilly regions.

Mussoorie Experiences Winter-Like Chill in May
Meanwhile, Mussoorie witnessed dramatic weather conditions overnight as heavy rain, hailstorms and icy winds transformed the popular hill station into a scene resembling winter in December.
After continuous rainfall, dense fog and low clouds covered the entire town by morning. The sudden drop in temperature forced locals and tourists to wear warm clothes despite it being the peak summer month of May.
The unexpected weather change in Mussoorie has also attracted tourists looking to escape the extreme heat in the plains, while the refreshing climate has brought temporary relief to residents across Uttarakhand.
Weather Department Advises Caution
Authorities have advised people living in hilly and sensitive areas to remain alert due to the possibility of heavy rain, lightning and strong winds. Travelers heading towards mountainous regions have also been urged to monitor weather updates before planning their journeys.
With weather systems remaining active over Uttarakhand, experts believe the state may continue to witness unstable climatic conditions over the next few days.
