Char Dham Yatra Registration 2023: Dehradun witnessed a historic moment as the newly constructed State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters and fire station at Jollygrant was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday. The event was graced by several senior officials, including former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar, and MLA Brij Bhushan Gairola, among others.
The Chief Minister congratulated the SDRF team on the occasion and said that the newly constructed SDRF headquarter is a matter of pride for the state. The headquarters, built at a cost of approximately Rs. 144.43 crore, will also serve as a training center for disaster management. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude towards the SDRF jawans and officers for their courage, valor, service, and dedication in discharging their duties during natural calamities. He appreciated their exemplary work during adverse circumstances and commended their rescue efficiency.

The Chief Minister also announced that a risk allowance of Rs. 1,500 per day would be given to gazetted officers and Rs. 1,000 per day to non-gazetted officers and employees working in SDRF for rescue operations carried out at a height above 11,000 feet. This step is taken to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the SDRF personnel and provide them with better facilities.
The Chief Minister further announced that a sixth company of SDRF would be formed with the aim of increasing the participation of women in disaster management. The company will appoint one-third women personnel on a priority basis. He also stated that the time period of deputation in SDRF would be increased from 07 years to 10 years, which will provide the personnel with more opportunities to serve the state.
Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank emphasized the importance of strengthening SDRF as the Himalayan region is prone to natural disasters. He praised the commendable work done by SDRF in the field of disaster management and stressed the need to train people at the district and divisional level.
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi stated that since the formation of SDRF in Uttarakhand, commendable work has been done by them, and SDRF is moving forward as a motivational force. Director General of Police Ashok Kumar highlighted that SDRF teams have been organized at 39 places in the state and have shown their efficiency by doing commendable work during disasters.
In conclusion, the inauguration of the newly constructed SDRF headquarters and fire station is a significant milestone for Uttarakhand’s disaster management infrastructure. With the announcement of new facilities and better opportunities for SDRF personnel, the state government aims to improve disaster management and enhance the efficiency of the force in rescuing people during natural calamities.
