Himgiri Festival : Two-day Himgiri Festival to be held in Dehradun

Himgiri Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of the Himalayan region, is celebrating its 31st anniversary with a two-day festival. The festival, called Himgiri Mahotsav-2024, will be held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on January 6-7, 2024.

The festival will feature a variety of events to promote Himalayan culture and heritage. On the first day, January 6, there will be an inter-school quiz competition, a poetry recital, and a folk music performance by the Anuragi brothers. In the evening, the chief guest, the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, will inaugurate the cultural program.

On the second day, January 7, there will be a walkathon on the theme of “Narcotics-free Uttarakhand.” This will be followed by an inter-school folk dance competition, a fancy dress competition, a fashion show, and a painting competition.

In the evening, there will be a cultural evening featuring traditional folk songs, dances, and instruments. The program will be hosted by R.J. Kavya of OHO Radio, and will feature performances by well-known singers and musicians from Uttarakhand, including Kishan Gahipal, Gajendra Rana, Rakesh Kandwal, Shweta Mahra, Sourabh Maithani, Maya Upadhyay, Sunny Dayal, Reshma Shah, Kailash Kumar, Narendra Gityar, and Swati Bhatt.

The Himgiri Mahotsav will also feature about 30 stalls showcasing Uttarakhand’s traditional costumes, cuisine, organic foods, and handicrafts. The festival organizers believe that this will help to attract visitors and showcase the rich culture and heritage of Uttarakhand.

The festival was announced at a press conference attended by Himgiri Society’s president, Gopal Joshi, secretary, Ashish Chauhan, and other members of the organization.
