DGP Ashok Kumar : June 23, 2023, under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, a meeting of the State Railway Security Arrangements Committee was organized in the auditorium located at the Police Headquarters, in which officials from Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, Rajaji Tiger Reserve, RPF, GRP participated. to be done.
DGP Ashok Kumar said that this meeting is organized in compliance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. There has been a lot of benefit from this meeting and coordination between all the agencies related to railway security has improved.
Various security and administrative issues were discussed in the meeting and the following important decisions were taken:-
1- Taking a strict stand on incidents of stone pelting on trains and tampering with railway tracks, such people should be arrested by registering charges.
2- In order to stop stone pelting in trains, such places should be identified and seminars should be organized in the villages/localities located there. Along with this, counseling of people should also be done.
3- The victim should be given relief by registering charges immediately on the incidents of theft, plagiarism, pickpocketing etc. on trains and railway stations. The percentage of disclosure of charges should also be increased. The SOG of GRP should be further strengthened.
4- Exchange professional criminals and important information among themselves by establishing GRP and RPF coordination for crime prevention and crime control.
5- In order to reduce the harm caused to wild animals due to rail operations, a coordination meeting with the Forest Department and Rajaji Tiger Reserve was held and assurance was given to mark such places and fence them, as well as to take other measures.
6- The recommendations of the security audit done in view of the security of important railway stations should be complied with. It was also decided to make complete arrangements for lighting and fire extinguishers at railway stations, complete checking/frisking of commuters covered by CCTV.
7- For the safety of railway stations, railway tracks, along with joint effective checking by RPF, GRP and local police in railway stations, railway tracks should also be inspected on foot and by push trolley.
8- Regarding seat reservation in trains for GRP personnel escorting trains, assurance was given by railway officials. It was also decided to share escort duty charts by GRP and RPF.
9- Discussion was also held regarding the deployment of GRP and establishment of new police station in Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line.
10- There was discussion regarding the manpower and infrastructure of GRP.
