Haridwar, 30 October 2023: A policeman committed suicide by hanging himself from the latch of the roof of a house located near BSM Tirahe in Haridwar district. The deceased has been identified as Chief Constable Naresh Chand posted at Cyber Police Station, Dehradun.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Naresh Chand had a deep friendship/love affair with a female constable posted in the CPU. On getting information about the engagement of his female friend, Naresh Chand had reached the rented accommodation of the lady constable located near BSM Tirahe. But Naresh Chand, upset with the news of his girlfriend not being there and getting engaged, committed suicide.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
Naresh Chand was originally a resident of Meerut district. He was working in the police department for the last 10 years. He was posted in Cyber Police Station Dehradun and was also a cyber expert. Last year itself, he had also won a prize of Rs 40 lakh on a cricket fantasy app.
