Uttarakhand: Dehradun-Muzaffarpur Raptiganga Express engine derails, major accident averted

The engine of Dehradun-Muzaffarpur Raptiganga Express was being brought from the yard to the platform. Meanwhile, the engine derailed with a loud bang. As soon as the information was received, Railway Station Superintendent Shashank Sharma, Chief Commercial Inspector SK Aggarwal and all the officers and employees reached the spot. Efforts were being made to bring the engine back on track till late night.

The engine of Dehradun-Muzaffarpur Raptiganga Express derailed during shunting in the railway yard late Saturday evening at Doon railway station. No one was injured during this, but due to this, the operation of many trains including Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express,  Dehradun-Amritsar Lahori Express was affected. These trains were dispatched with a delay of several hours.

Railway Station Superintendent Shashank Sharma said that the engine of was being brought from the yard to the platform on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, the engine derailed with a loud bang. As soon as the information was received, Railway Station Superintendent Shashank Sharma, Chief Commercial Inspector SK Aggarwal and all the officers and employees reached the spot. Efforts were being made to bring the engine back on track till late night.

Due to this the Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express was delayed by one hour. At the same time, the Dehradun-Amritsar Lahori Express and the  could not be departed on schedule.

Passengers also faced problems due to the affected train operations. He told that the information of this incident has been given to all the top officials including Divisional Railway Manager, Senior Divisional Traffic Manager. The Divisional Railway Manager has issued orders to investigate the incident. On the other hand, electric poles were also damaged due to this incident.
