Action to curb accidents caused due to overspeeding

To control vehicle accidents in Dehradun and Haridwar district, on the instructions of RTO Mr. Shailesh Tiwari, a checking campaign was conducted on the main routes of Dehradun and Haridwar district by ARTO (Enforcement) and Transport Tax Officer, Flying Squad/Interceptor Squad against overspeeding vehicles.

How is overspeeding challaned:
The maximum speed limit is fed into the speed radar gun of the interceptor at the checking point. The camera is focused on the vehicle in which the speed of the vehicle is recorded. If the speed exceeds the limit, its report is recorded by the speed radar gun along with photo, number plate and speed, which is printed and entered into the e-challan software and challan is issued.

If found overspeeding, a fine of Rs. 2000 and license suspension for 03 months will be imposed.

In Dehradun district, 219 vehicles were challaned for over speeding.

Under the leadership of ARTO (Enforcement) Shri Rajendra Viratia, a team of Ms. Anuradha Pant, Mrs. Shweta Rauthan and Shri MD Papnoi Transport Tax Officer conducted a campaign on Kunawala, Haridwar Bypass and Saharanpur road. Under the campaign, 90 vehicles were challaned for over speeding.

In Rishikesh, under the campaign run by ARTO Shri Mohit Kothari on Haridwar road and Dehradun road, 72 vehicles were challaned for over speeding.

In Vikasnagar area, under the campaign run by the team of Shri Rawat Singh, ARTO Enforcement, Transport Tax Officer, Shri Mahavir Singh Negi on Shimla Bypass road, 57 vehicles were challaned.

Under the campaign run in Haridwar district, 102 vehicles were challaned for over speeding. In Haridwar, under the campaign led by Smt. Rashmi Pant, ARTO Enforcement, 53 vehicles were challaned for over speeding.

In the same campaign run by the team of Shri Krishna Chandra, ARTO Roorkee, in Roorkee, 49 vehicles were challaned for over speeding.

The speed of vehicles is also being monitored by the ANPR cameras installed by the Transport Department on the main border roads of the state, Asharodi, Kulhal, Chidiyapur and Narsan.
