Tomatoes : Along with Uttarakhand, the prices of tomatoes are skyrocketing in the whole country. In view of the rising prices, the Consumer Affairs Ministry also had to intervene in this matter. In many states of the country, tomatoes are being sold for 100 to 300 rupees per kg.
Dehradun Mandi Committee is making preparations to buy tomatoes from Afghanistan to give relief to common people from tomato prices. For this, the committee has approached a businessman from Karnataka. Tomato will be bought from Afghanistan at Rs.60 per kg. For this, permission will be taken from the central government.
In Dehradun too, until some time ago, tomatoes were sold up to Rs.2 per kg. Although the Doon district administration has tried to provide relief to the people and has fixed the price at Rs 80 to 110 per kg, but due to incessant rains, there is little possibility of reduction in the prices. In this situation, the market committee is considering buying tomatoes from Afghanistan.
Will be bought at Rs 60 per kg
If sources are to be believed, the market committee is also in talks with a businessman from Karnataka for this. Who is talking about getting tomato from Afghanistan at the rate of Rs.60 per kg. However, to buy tomato from outside the country, the market committee will have to take permission from the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs. It will be taken forward only after getting permission. Secretary Mandi Committee Vijay Thapliyal said that talks will be held with the Union Consumer Ministry in this matter.
